The four majors don’t care which tour a player belongs to — if you qualify, you’re in. And for the 2026 U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills, that means a heavy LIV Golf presence: 13 players from the Saudi‑funded league have earned spots in the 156‑man field, four of whom have previously lifted the trophy.

Former U.S. Open champions in the LIV contingent

A reminder of just how much major‑winning pedigree LIV brings:

  • Jon Rahm — World No. 8, champion in 2021; exempt as a past winner.
  • Bryson DeChambeau — Two‑time champion (2020, 2024).
  • Dustin Johnson — 2016 champion; qualified via LIV’s top‑3 exemption for non‑exempt players.
  • Graeme McDowell — 2010 champion; earned his spot through Final Qualifying.

Players who qualified via world ranking or season performance

Strong results and ranking positions pushed several more LIV names into the field:

  • Tyrrell Hatton — Earned entry through a top‑10 finish at the 2025 U.S. Open (T4).
  • Joaquin Niemann — Qualified via top‑3 in the LIV standings.
  • David Puig — Inside the top 60 in the world.
  • Carlos Ortiz — Also in through a top‑10 at the 2025 U.S. Open (T4).
  • Lucas Herbert — Qualified via LIV top‑3.
  • Cameron Smith — Exempt as the 2022 Open Champion.

Through “Golf’s Longest Day”: Final Qualifying survivors

Three LIV players took the grueling 36‑hole route:

  • Peter Uihlein — Best U.S. Open finish: T48 (2018).
  • Caleb Surratt — Major debut; left college in 2024 to join Jon Rahm’s Legion XIII.
  • Graeme McDowell — Also listed above as a past champion.

No DACH‑region players among LIV qualifiers

Germany, Austria, and Switzerland are unrepresented within the LIV group this year.

What happens next at Shinnecock Hills?

The question now is whether one of these 13 LIV players can conquer one of America’s most demanding links‑style courses on Long Island.

The first round action begins at 6:30 a.m. ET Thursday, with USA Network, NBC, Peacock, and NBCSN providing coverage over the four days.
