PGA Championship payouts revealed: Cashing In at Aronimink Golf Club | 2026 prize money
Scottie Scheffler, Jon Rahm and Rory McIlroy headline a stacked field as golf’s financial stakes continue to climb in Pennsylvania.
Organizers of the PGA Championship have confirmed a total prize purse of $20.5 million for this year’s tournament at Aronimink Golf Club in Pennsylvania, an increase of $1.5 million from the 2025 event at Quail Hollow Club in North Carolina.
Winner’s payout climbs again
Of that total, $3.69 million will go to the winner. After the second round, the top 22 players were separated by just three shots, with Scottie Scheffler, Justin Thomas and Jon Rahm among the names in the mix. Rory McIlroy was only five strokes back heading into the third round.
The top prize is an increase of $270,000 from 12 months ago, when Scheffler collected $3.42 million alongside the Wanamaker Trophy.
How payouts break down
There are also seven-figure payouts for second place ($2.214 million) and third place ($1.394 million). The lowest-ranked player to make it through all four rounds will still take home $23,900.
Players who did not make the cut were handed $4,300 before heading home.
Even missed cuts pay
Even missing the weekend does not mean leaving empty-handed, with players outside the cut still receiving a small payout for their efforts.
Where it ranks among golf’s biggest purses
The $20.5 million total purse makes the PGA Championship the fourth most lucrative event on this year’s PGA Tour schedule, behind the Tour Championship ($40 million), The Players Championship ($25 million) and The Masters ($22.5 million).
However, the prize purses for the U.S. Open and The Open Championship have not yet been revealed. The U.S. Open, which offered a total of $21.5 million in 2025, will likely rise again this year.
