Lucas Glover concluded the FedEx Cup season with a remarkable victory on Sunday evening in Greensboro, North Carolina. He scored a two-under 68, clinching the final tournament before the playoffs commenced. Additionally, Glover received a substantial payout and was awarded 500 FedEx Cup points, enabling him to qualify for the postseason.

The final tournament of the FedEx Cup season was filled with tension as players scrambled to secure a spot in the top 70 of the standings. One of the most intense moments he had occurred on the 18th hole when Justin Thomas attempted a birdie to secure his place in the playoffs. Unfortunately, his chip from the front of the green hit the cup and bounced out, causing him to drop to the ground in despair. He ultimately tapped in for par.

FedEx Cup playoffs

If a player is ranked within the top 70 at the end of the regular PGA Tour season, they will earn their Tour card for the 2024 season and be allowed to participate in the Playoffs. However, after the first Playoff event, the FedEx St. Jude Championship in Memphis at TPC Southwind, only the top 50 players will move on to the next event, the BMW Championship outside Chicago at Olympia Fields. These top 50 players will also qualify to participate in most of the PGA Tour’s designated events for 2024.

The top 30 players who survive the BMW Championship will advance to the Tour Championship held at East Lake in Atlanta, where they will compete for the coveted FedEx Cup title and the overall purse of $75 million. The winner will take home $18 million.

Once the core FedEx Cup season ends, official PGA Tour events will occur in the fall. All players who have the status for the 2022-23 FedEx Cup season will be eligible to compete. Players ranked outside the top 70 can compete for FedEx Cup points to secure playing status for the 2024 season.
