Roger Federer to play tennis with Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge
Tennis great Roger Federer will share the court with the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton at a charity event against child poverty next month.
Roger Federer is ready to return to tennis and will do so alongside a special guest. The Swiss will share the court with Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, in a charity event to be held next month as part of the Laver Cup.
The Duchess and the tennis legend will join forces with the aim of raising funds for British children and young people who are in vulnerable situations.
The news was released by Kensington Palace, as well as the organization of the Laver Cup through its social networks.
“Thrilled to announce that Laver Cup will partner with the Duchess of Cambridge this year to raise funds for two incredible charities,” the former world number one wrote on his Twitter account on Wednesday.
When will the Laver Cup be held?
The Laver Cup will take place from September 23 to 25 at the O2 Arena pavilion in the English capital, but the day before, tennis players will warm up their engines on the traditional training day which the public can access by purchasing tickets.
In addition to Federer, the tournament is also expected to feature other outstanding tennis players such as Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic. The event pits six of the best players in Europe against six from the rest of the world over the weekend.
