Ryan Garcia challenges David Benavidez
Despite being from different categories, Mexican boxer Ryan Garcia asked to fight David Benavidez at 178.
Although his future is unknown after being accused of taking illegal substances for the Devin Haney fight, Ryan Garcia challenged David Benavidez, the interim 168-pound champion, the fighter who people want to see take on Canelo Alvarez.
Through his ‘X’ account, Garcia wrote he would like to face the Mexican Monster, who quickly responded to KingRy asking him to send the contract.
“Send the contract. I’ll go down to 144″, replied Benavidez from his Instagram account, uploading a screenshot of Garcia’s tweet.
David Benavidez vs Ryan Garcia, an illusion
Although Benavidez accepted Ryan García’s challenge on social media, the fight is just an illusion, at least in the short term, due to the abysmal weight difference between both fighters.
Ryan Garcia is coming off a fight against Devin Haney at 135 pounds, while Benavidez has decided to move up to 175 pounds to fight Oleksandr Gvozdyk.
Ryan García’s challenge was also a friendly move to Canelo Álvarez, who refused to take on Bandera Roja, although it’s the fight fans have been waiting for for some months.
“Canelo my big bro I got your back. Benavidez is done. I’ll handle your light work”, Garcia wrote on his ‘X’ account. Meanwhile, KingRy is waiting to see if there is a sanction after testing positive for Ostarine.
