The quirky ‘pastry’ leaderboard Carlos Alcaraz dominated this year
A look back at a dominant year in which the world No 1 piled up wins, trophies and a tasty statistical crown.

Carlos Alcaraz’s 2025 season came to an abrupt and unexpected end, as the world No. 1 had been scheduled to play the Davis Cup. A hamstring edema in his right leg ruled him out, closing his year after the loss to Jannik Sinner in the ATP Finals title game. Alcaraz wrapped up what was arguably the best campaign of his career, backed by eight titles – including two Grand Slams – and a 71–9 record across the 80 games he contested.
Carlos ‘The Baker’ Alcaraz
The strong run from the Murcian was rewarded with finishing the year as the ATP’s top-ranked player, something he had only achieved in 2022. Reaching the final in Turin ensured he would lead the world standings, and in that northern Italian city he also secured the top spot in a far less important, but still revealing, statistic about his domination this season. In the group stage, he took the second set against Lorenzo Musetti 6–1, which put him alone at the top of the so-called Tennis Bakery. What is that, you ask? The Tennis Bakery is a social-media account that tracks sets won 6–0 (“bagels” also known as “donuts in some, ahem, circles) and 6–1 (“breadsticks”), and no one collected more than Alcaraz in 2025.

Baker of the Year is the player to win the most sets 6-0/6-1 throughout the year. Sinner narrowly came in 2nd place with 34 sets won 6-0/6-1. pic.twitter.com/lBMvlDjjk5
The player from El Palmar claimed 27 sets by 6–1 and another eight by 6–0, for a total of 35. That put him just ahead of Sinner’s 34, though Sinner had more bagels (10) but fewer 6–1 sets (24). It’s worth remembering that the Italian missed three months of the season due to a suspension following a double positive for clostebol. Interestingly, Alcaraz won all 24 games in which he delivered a 6–1 set, though he did not win all eight in which he handed out a bagel: he lost the Indian Wells final to Jack Draper. His most lopsided result also came at that tournament, where he beat Grigor Dimitrov 6–1, 6–1. Alcaraz achieved something not seen since 2017, when Rafa Nadal was the last player to reach 35 sets by those scorelines.
No one, then, matched Alcaraz’s tally – making him the season’s “master baker” of the ATP. The list also features Jaume Munar in fourth place, behind the two heavyweights and Alex de Miñaur, after he produced four 6–0 sets and eleven 6–1 results. In the women’s tour, Iga Swiatek was the clear leader, winning 17 sets by 6–0 (Jessica Pegula was next with eight), along with 24 sets by 6–1. Curiously, the Pole also appears on the opposite side of the ledger: with 13, she is third among players who received one of those scorelines most often.
