The reason why Cameron Smith was warming up at the Masters with a sports jacket: “We had a few too many beers”
The Australian’s look in Augusta went viral: “I wouldn’t say I’m a fashion guru by any standard but it was a bit chilly out there”.

It was one of the talking points in the build-up to the Masters, which got underway at Augusta National Golf Club on Thursday. Cameron Smith raised a few eyebrows by turning up for the Day Three practice round looking extra smart.
Bookmakers have Smith at +4500 to claim the green jacket - but Smith is clearly already getting into the swing by donning a navy one.

Cameron Smith’s formal look at the Masters
The LIV Golf player went for a smart-casual look on Wednesday, wearing a dark blue blazer over a navy polo shirt and matching trousers. He finished his look off with a red baseball cap.
Later, he explained that his formal attire was down to a deal he made with the man who supplied his Ripper GC clothing.
“Funny story - I met Charlie, the Grayson guy, at teams week this week, and we had a couple of beers and maybe even a couple too many beers, and we got to talking about fashion and he said it would be great if you wore a blazer at the Masters. I think it’s the place to do it, and I agreed to it. I’m a man of my word, so I did it,“ Smith told reporters.
Chilly day in Augusta
The blazer didn’t hamper his game - if fact, in anything, it enhanced it. “It was actually good, though,” Smith continued. “I mean, for how a sport coat or a blazer should feel, that one I was able to swing in pretty easy. It was a bit chilly, so it kind of worked out. So yeah, it was good.”
Smith added that another bonus was receiving so many compliments for his formal look: “It was pretty good. I wouldn’t say I’m a fashion guru by any standard, but I felt good in it.”
Playing in his seventh Masters, the Australian finished the opening day six shots behind leader Justin Rose.
