The reason why Carlos Alcaraz and Juan Carlos Ferrero are parting ways: Who will be the World No.1’s new coach?
Alcaraz announces his split with the coach who led him to the number one spot.
Carlos Alcaraz and Juan Carlos Ferrero are parting ways after more than six years together. Their partnership, which propelled the Murcian player to the world number one ranking and helped him win Roland Garros, Wimbledon, and the US Open, has come to an end. Alcaraz announced the news on his social media accounts.
“We reached the top, and I feel that if our sporting paths were to diverge, it should be from up there. From the place we always worked towards and aspired to reach,” he explained.
Who is Samuel López, Carlos Alcaraz’s new coach?
For now, Samuel López, former coach of Pablo Carreño and who joined the team this year sharing coaching duties with Ferrero, will take over as Alcaraz’s coach.
“Now come times of change for both of us, new adventures and new projects. But I am certain that we will face them the right way, giving our best, as we always have. Always moving forward,” Alcaraz wrote.
