These are the LIV golfers playing at the 2025 Open Championship at Royal Portrush

A record number of LIV golfers will take part in a men’s golf major at the upcoming 2025 Open Championship, which will be played at Royal Portrush in Northern Ireland between Thursday, July 17 and Sunday, July 20. 

19 members of the breakaway league will be teeing it up in the final major of the year, which makes up 12% of the field. That figure surpasses the previous highest of 15, which occurred at the PGA Championship at Quail Hollow in May. 

The players in question qualified via a mix of routes, including due to their past performances in the Open Championship and other majors, their positions in different ranking lists and through nail-biting Open qualifying.

Several LIV players have won the tournament in the past, although none after joining the league, which began in 2022. Australia’s Cameron Smith came close, however, signing up for LIV Golf in August 2022, just a few weeks after his victory at St Andrews. 

Henrik Stenson (2016), Phil Mickelson (2013) and Louis Oosthuizen (2010) are the other former Open champions in the field this week who now play with the PGA’s rival tour.
