This is the record prize money for the winner of the 2025 AIG Women’s Open

The 2025 AIG Women’s Open takes place at Royal Porthcawl between Thursday, July 31 and Sunday, August 3, with world No.1 Nelly Korda looking to finally break her winless streak.

The 27-year-old won seven times in 2024 but is still looking for her first victory in 2025. Korda, who has never won the Women’s Open, is also hoping to become the first American major winner since she herself triumphed at the 2024 Chevron Championship, the first major of last year.

There have been three first-time major winners in 2025 (Japan’s Mao Saigo, Maja Stark of Sweden and Australia’s Grace Kim) and the bookmakers believe there could be a fourth, with English youngster Lottie Woad down as the slight favorite in Wales having already won twice inside the last month. 

Unlike in men’s golf, there are five majors in the women’s game, with Minjee Lee, another Australian, joining Saigo, Stark and Kim in the winner’s circle this year. 

Record prize purse at 2025 AIG Women’s Open

History will be made at the 2025 AIG Women’s Open. In addition to robotic mowers being used to get the course ready for play each day, a first in UK golf, there will be a record amount of prize money on offer. 

The total prize purse for the tournament stands at $9.75 million, three times as much as what was on offer at the Women’s Open offer seven years ago, and an increase of $250,000 from 12 months ago. 

Of that figure, the winner will take home $1,462,500, by far the highest amount in the event’s 49-year history.
