Tony Finau wins 2022 PGA Rocket Mortgage Classic: Leaderboard and prize money for each golfer
Tony Finau coasted to a convincing victory and set a tournament record at the PGA Rocket Mortgage Classic held over the weekend at Detroit Golf Club.
Tony Finau was effortless as he clinched the 2022 PGA Rocket Mortgage Classic at Detroit Golf Club in Michigan, his second consecutive victory after his come-from-behind triumph at the 3M Open in Minnesota last week.
Finau captured the title after finishing with a 26-under par total of 262, which is now the lowest score in the history of the tournament. He also became the first PGA Tour golfer to win consecutive regular-season tournaments in three years.
Finau’s commanding win
The 32-year-old put in a solid performance at the competition, with six birdies in a five-under par 67 on Sunday which led to his five-shot win over the trio of fellow Americans Patrick Cantlay and Cameron Young and Canadian Taylor Pendrith, who were all tied for second place.
He recorded his lone bogey of the week in four rounds, on the eleventh hole on Sunday.
Despite being one of the sport’s top players, the Rocket Mortgage Classic was only the fourth title of Finau’s career.
The world number 16 is expected to climb to seventh place in the world rankings after his latest win.
