United States on semi alert as Alcaraz sweeps Norrie aside at Wimbledon to set up Fritz clash
The Spaniard defeated the Brit with an impeccable performance, making more tennis history in the process.
Carlos Alcaraz delivered his most commanding display yet at this year’s Wimbledon, sweeping aside Cameron Norrie on Tuesday in the quarterfinals. The Spaniard never eased off the throttle, dictating from the baseline and at the net, and powered through to a 6-2, 6-3, 6-3 win in just 99 minutes – his third-fastest victory at a Grand Slam.

Alcaraz’s serve was once again in devastating form, firing 13 aces and winning 89% of points behind his first serve – a continuation of the dominance he showed in the previous round against Andrey Rublev. That control allowed him to steer rallies at will, keeping unforced errors low and striking with remarkable precision off both wings.
The 22-year-old will now face Taylor Fritz in Friday’s semifinals, his third appearance in the final four at the All England Club and eighth overall at major level. Fritz battled through a four-set encounter against Karen Khachanov – 6-3, 6-4, 1-6, 7-6 (4) – in two hours and 36 minutes to book the showdown.
Alcaraz is now the second-most frequent Spanish semifinalist in Grand Slam history with eight appearances, trailing only Rafael Nadal’s 38 (eight of which came at Wimbledon). He’s now tied with the late Manuel Santana, and among active players, he joins Daniil Medvedev, Stan Wawrinka and Alexander Zverev with eight – all of them still far behind the seemingly untouchable Novak Djokovic, who has 51.
It’s also worth noting Alcaraz’s superb record on grass – 34 wins to just 3 losses, and a 23-match winning streak this season.

Norrie, 29 and ranked 61st, could do little to halt the onslaught. He had four of his five break point chances in the opening game but failed to convert. Alcaraz, by contrast, earned 11 break points and converted five. He was superior across nearly every metric except double faults and points won on second serve. He struck 39 winners and made just 26 unforced errors, keeping his focus razor sharp throughout. Not once did he waver or let the match slip into chaos – his most stable showing so far in the tournament.
With question marks surrounding top seed Jannik Sinner – who was spared by Grigor Dimitrov’s injury on Monday but picked up an elbow issue himself – Alcaraz suddenly sees a clear shot at a third Wimbledon crown. But first, he’ll have to get past Fritz and the ever-formidable, never-fading Novak Djokovic.
