Just days after US President Donald Trump remarked that it’s good for Russia and Ukraine “to fight each other for a while” – during his first bilateral meeting with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz – three-time heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk has invited Trump to spend a week in Ukraine.

In an interview with the BBC, Usyk said he believes the former president should experience firsthand the severity of the Russian invasion by living in his home for one week.

“I advise US President Donald Trump to come to Ukraine and live in my house for a week. Just one week – and I’ll give him my home. Please, Trump, live in Ukraine and see what happens every night. Every night there are bombs and flights above my house. Bombs, rocket. Every night. It’s enough.” Usyk said.

Trump has repeatedly claimed that if reelected, he would bring the war between Russia and Ukraine to an end in under 24 hours – a promise that has yet to materialize.

Usyk focused on Dubois, but never far from home

The reigning heavyweight champion, who will soon defend his title, is currently in Spain training for his upcoming bout against British fighter Daniel Dubois, scheduled for July 19 at Wembley Stadium.

Still, Usyk remains deeply engaged with the war in his homeland and expressed concern over the immense human toll caused by Russia’s military campaign.

“I’m worried about what’s happening in my country. It’s a terrible situation because so many Ukrainians have died. It’s not just soldiers – it’s also children, women, grandmothers and grandfathers,” he added.
