Vegas Golden Knights NHL Stanley Cup champions 2023: Which team has won the most NHL titles?

In an impressive feat, the Vegas Golden Knights clinched their first Stanley Cup trophy in their sixth NHL season by defeating the Florida Panthers 9-3.

On Tuesday night, the Vegas Golden Knights won their first title in front of an enthusiastic crowd inside and outside of T-Mobile Arena. Their performance earned them a place in NHL history as the seventh team to score five or more goals in three or more games during a single Stanley Cup Final series.

Golden Knights ice the strip

Las Vegas has secured its second major championship title in just two years. The Las Vegas Aces of the WNBA claimed the league crown in 2022 with an impressive 3-1 series win against the Connecticut Sun.

During the championship match, Vegas took an early lead of 2-0 at the first intermission and then went on to dominate the game in the second period, scoring four times and establishing a commanding 6-1 lead heading into the final 20 minutes.

It makes sense that a Canadian team has the most titles in the history of the NHL. The sport was invented there almost two centuries ago, and hockey has been an institution in Canada since then.

The Canadiens, the kings of the ice

The Montreal Canadians are the most successful team in the NHL, but it’s been a while since the Habs have lifted the Cup. They have a total of 24 Stanley Cups, having won their first in 1916. They would have stead success for the next few decades, but they ran rampant through the league in the 50s and 60s and into the 70′s. Led by Jean Beliveau, Dickie Moore, Doug Harvey, and Bernie Geroffrion, they won it all 12 times in 20 years, including five straight from 1956-60.

They took a short break from winning over the next two years but went back-to-back-to-back-to-back from 1975 to 1979. The Habs got one in the 80′s and won their last in 1993.

Henri Richard was a crucial part of the 50s, 60s, and 70s team. He won a record 11 Stanley Cups in his 20-year career.

The Toronto Maple Leafs sit second with 13, and the Detroit Red Wings have 11.
