The Ryder Cup pairings for Friday afternoon’s four-balls have been announced, after Team Europe took a commanding lead over Team USA in the morning’s foursomes at the Bethpage Black Course.

Friday afternoon four-ball pairings:

Match 1: 12:25 p.m. ET

  • Scheffler/Spaun (USA) vs Rahm/Straka (EUR)

Match 2: 12:41 p.m. ET

  • Griffin/DeChambeau (USA) vs Fleetwood/Rose (EUR)

Match 3: 12:57 p.m. ET

  • Young/Thomas (USA) vs Aberg/Hojgaard (EUR)

Match 4: 1:13 p.m. ET

  • Burns/Cantlay (USA) vs McIlroy/Lowry (EUR)

Team Europe on top

The Europeans have so far dominated the first day of the tournament in Farmingdale, New York, racing into a 3-1 lead in the foursomes.

Jon Rahm and Tyrell Hatton took the first point of the 2025 Ryder Cup when they were 4&3 winners in their match against Bryson DeChambeau and Justin Thomas.

Rory McIlroy and Tommy Fleetwood then secured a 5&4 victory over Collin Morikawa and Harris English, before the duo of Ludvig Aberg and Matt Fitzpatrick followed suit with a 5&3 triumph over Scottie Scheffler and Russell Henley.

In the final foursome to be settled, Team USA’s Xander Schauffele and Patrick Cantlay secured the hosts’ first point. Schauffele and Cantlay finished two up on Team Europe’s Robert MacIntyre and Viktor Hovland.

Match 1: DeChambeau/Thomas (USA) vs Rahm/Hatton (EUR)

  • Europe wins 4&3

Match 2: Scheffler/Henley (USA) vs Aberg/Fitzpatrick (EUR):

  • Europe wins 5&3

Europeans break two-decade duck

This is the first time since 2004 that Team Europe has won the opening session of a Ryder Cup held in the U.S.

Luke Donald’s men, who are the defending champions after a 16.5-11.5 win over Team USA in Italy in 2023, are seeking Europe’s first Ryder Cup win on American soil since 2012.

Team USA last won the Ryder Cup in 2021, courtesy of a 19-9 victory at Whistling Straits in Kohler, Wisconsin.
