What did Motocross’ Jayden Archer say to his mother minutes before he died?

The tragedy of the Australian star’s premature passing is made all the more painful by the fact that he sent his mother a loving message moments before his death.

Jayo

Earlier this week, one of motocross’ biggest stars was laid to rest after an accident during training brought a tragic and untimely end to his life. Indeed, the loss of the 28-year-old known to fans and friends as ‘Jayo’ will be felt immensely.

Who was Jayden Archer?

Though only 28 years old, Australian motocross rider Jayden Archer was actually a veteran of the sport having been part of the Nitro Circus tour for more than a decade. At just nine years old, he was introduced to the sport and then later mentored by compatriot and fellow motocross star Cam Sinclair, it was truly only a matter of time before Archer became one of the biggest names in the sport. Now, while there are many highlights of his storied career, including two X Games medals, it’s almost certain that the one he will most be remembered for is when he landed a triple backflip at the Nitro World Games in Brisbane 2022. It was a maneuver that had never been landed before. Immediately after the achievement, he proposed to his girlfriend Beth King. Sadly, it was that same move that would take his life just over two weeks ago on February 21st, when he failed to land it during a training session in Melbourne.

A mother’s pain

As the saying goes, ‘No parent should ever have to bury a child.’ Yet, that is the reality that his mother, Tracy, was faced with as she spoke to those gathered at her son’s funeral service in Cumulus Chapel in Melbourne’s Dandenong South this week. With family and friends present, Archer’s mother revealed the last interaction that she had with her son, and in heartbreaking fashion, it happened to be just minutes before he died.

“Fourteen minutes before my beloved son left this earth he screenshotted a quote: ‘I am strong because I was raised by a strong woman,’” she said before adding, “I will hold onto this for the rest of my life. He will never truly leave the ones he loved. He will live on in our hearts and memories for eternity he was and always will be my golden boy Jayo.’ Tracy would also go on to explain that she could not be more grateful to be Jayden’s mother, paying further tribute to her son with a post on social media just a few days ago.

“On Wednesday the 21st of Feb my world froze when I learned my beloved son had passed away during a training accident. He was due to go to Vienna this week but instead, we are planning his funeral,’ she wrote. “He may have been covered in tattoos and had no fear on a motorbike but he was also the most kind, caring lovable son, fiancé, family member, and mate. He was so hard working and dedicated and never feared dreaming big. He lived life to the fullest and will be sadly missed by all who knew & loved him. I don’t believe he will ever truly leave me, I will always feel him in my heart. Love forever Mum xox.”
