Update:

Carlos Alcaraz is the 2026 Australian Open men’s champion after defeating Novak Djokovic 2-6, 6-2, 6-3, 7-5 in the final in Melbourne.

At the age of just 22, Alcaraz is the youngest man to complete the career Grand Slam. Djokovic previously held that record, doing so at 29.

How much prize money did Carlos Alcaraz win?

For his efforts, Alcaraz takes home a winner’s check of $2.7 million. That is the largest champion’s payday in the history of the Australian Open and represents a $600,000 increase from 2025.

Alcaraz’s ATP ranking after Australian Open victory

Alcaraz headed into the Australian Open as the world No. 1 and has extended his lead at the top of the ATP ranking ahead of Jannik Sinner, who was beaten by Djokovic in the semifinals.

Alcaraz added valuable points after only reaching the quarterfinals of last year’s tournament in Melbourne, strengthening his grip on the No. 1 spot.

Despite losing in the final, Djokovic moves up one place to No. 3 after improving on his performance at the 2025 Australian Open, when he was eliminated in the semifinals.

  • 2026 French Open: May 24-June 7
  • 2026 Wimbledon: June 29-July 12
