For her efforts, Rybakina takes home a winner’s check $2.7 million. That’s the largest champion’s payday in the history of the Australia Open, and a $600,000 increase from 2025.
Rybakina’s WTA Ranking after Australian Open victory
Rybakina, who lost in the fourth round in the 2025 Australian Open, is now the world No. 3, moving up two spots as a result of her victory in Australia. She swaps places with Coco Gauff, who suffered a heavy defeat in to Elina Svitolina in this year’s quarterfinals.
Sabalenka went into the tournament as the world No. 1 and there has been no change in her WTA Ranking. The Belarusian keeps her lead over second-placed Iga Swiatek by virtue of equaling her performance in last year’s Australian Open, in which she was also the beaten finalist.
Rybakina targets Roland-Garros and US Open
Rybakina’s victory means she has now won two Grand Slam titles, having previous triumphed at Wimbledon in 2022. The Kazakh has yet to win the French Open or the US Open, which will be among her remaining targets in 2026.
