Adrian Meronk is currently one shot off the lead and is making a point and probably making Luke Donald think twice about his captain’s picks. The 30-year-old Polish golfer has a chip on his shoulder after an impressive season and a win at Marco Simone, where the Ryder Cup will be played.

Meanwhile Jon Rahm, Tyrell Hatton, Matt Fitzpatrick and Viktor Hovland are in good shape for the weekend, trying to impress Donald and show the captain that they’re ready to take on the Americans in two weeks. Tommy Fleetwood and Sepp Straka are cruising too and Donald is playing himself and has made the cut and play Saturday and Sunday.

Rory McIlroy makes the cut by the skin of his teeth

The big news of the day is that Rory McIlroy is going to play this weekend. He made birdie on No. 18 after a long wait on the tee due to slow play. The Northern Irish star finished at 1-under par and got into the clubhouse before play was stopped due to lack of light.

Last tournament to find some rythym before the Ryder Cup

This is the final tournament for the Ryder Cup players. This tournament, which isn’t the PGA Championship or the BMW Championship, but is the biggest tournament on the DP World Tour (previously known as the European Tour) calendar. Some of the members of the US squad are competing this weekend at the Fortinet Championship and everyone is trying to play their best, but more importantly, players on both sides of the pond are trying to find their groove before heading to Italy to compete Sep. 29 -Oct. 1 at the Marco Simone Country Club outside of Rome.

What is the cutline at the 2023 BMW PGA Championship?

The cutline at Wentworth Club is 1-under par. Everyone with a score of 1-under par or better will get to play this weekend. The top 65 players and ties will play on Saturday and Sunday. With two hours left of play, 73 players will make it into the weekend. Two European team members are on the cutline with Rory McIlroy: Nicolai Hojgaard and Justin Rose.
