What is the cutline at the 2024 CME Group Tour Championship? Who is going home early? LPGA Tour
Nelly Korda is among the stars hoping to collect the record prize money on offer, but will she be around for the weekend?
The 2024 LPGA Tour reaches its conclusion this week at Tiburón Golf Club in Naples, Florida, with the CME Group Tour Championship, one of the most lucrative tournaments in the history of women’s golf.
Record prize money at 2024 CME Group Tour Championship
While there was a bigger overall purse at the 2024 US Open ($12 million) this past June, the winner on Sunday will scoop $4 million of the $11 million on offer to the entire field, the largest first-place payout ever in the women’s game.
South Korea’s Narin An, the current world No. 76, was the leader after the first round on Thursday, with her eight-under par 64 leaving her one shot ahead of the USA’s Angel Yin before the start of play on Friday. American duo Marina Alex and Allison Corpuz were a stroke further back, with world No. 1 Nelly Korda, chasing an eighth victory this year, five adrift on 3-under.
The season-ending tournament features the top 60 players from the Race to the CME Globe, which also includes the all of the top 10 players in the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings.
Why isn’t there a cut in the 2024 CME Group Tour Championship?
As is the case in Signature Events on the PGA Tour, as well as FedEx Cup playoff tournaments, the limited field means there is no cut after 36 holes on Friday, which means the 60 entrants will all play four rounds.
While the champion will collect a record $4 million, even the player who finishes dead last is guaranteed a not insignificant financial reward, with $55,000 the prize for 60th place.
