When and where is Mayweather vs Pacquiao part 2? The rematch no one saw coming
More than a decade after their record-breaking showdown, two icons prepare to revive one of boxing’s most lucrative rivalries on a new stage.
Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao will step back into the ring to write a new chapter in their rivalry. On September 19, they will face each other at Sphere in Las Vegas, with the fight set to stream on Netflix.
Mayweather defeated Pacquiao in their 2015 championship bout, a fight that generated a record 4.6 million pay-per-view buys and became one of the most highly anticipated contests in boxing history. That night set a commercial benchmark that few events in any sport have come close to matching.
This will mark the first boxing match ever held at Sphere, the venue that opened in 2023. In 2024, it hosted a UFC mixed martial arts card, but it has yet to stage a professional boxing event.
Recently, “Money” Mayweather announced he would come out of retirement to resume his professional boxing career. In addition, Floyd is already scheduled for an exhibition fight against Mike Tyson on April 25 in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Mayweather, 49, retired in 2017 with an undefeated record of 50-0, though he has taken part in several exhibition bouts since then. Pacquiao, 47, returned last year after four years away from the sport and faced Mario Barrios, fighting to a majority draw for the WBC welterweight title. The Filipino is also set to meet Ruslan Provodnikov in an exhibition bout on April 18 in Las Vegas. Now, with both veterans once again active, their long-simmering rivalry is poised for another spotlight moment.
