When did Novak Djokovic last lose at Wimbledon?

The Serbian defeated the Argentine Cachín in the first round of the English championship, continuing his incredible run on the famous grass courts.

Novak Djokovic continues with the dominance he has exercised in recent years on the grass at Wimbledon. The Serbian defeated Argentine Cachín in the first round of the 2023 edition in three sets (6-3, 6-3 and 7-6 (4)) in a match that lasted two hours and 12 minutes (without taking into account time lost due to a rain delay).

Wimbledon’s 2,000+ unbeaten Djokovic

With this triumph, ‘Nole’ achieved his 29th consecutive victory in the British tournament and it is now more than two thousand days that the number two in the world has not been defeated by the All England Club.

More accurately, at the time of writing, 2,184 days have passed since the Balkan player last tasted defeat in the grass-based Grand Slam. Djokovic is the favorite to win the title this summer and is already focusing attention on his second round opponent, Australian Jordan Thompson, number 70 in the world.

Who was the last person to beat Djokovic at Wimbledon?

To find the last time the defending champion failed to win, you have to go back to the 2017 edition. In it, the Czech player Tomas Berdych emerged triumphant in the face-off against Novak. I should point out that in that match Djokovic had to withdraw due to an elbow injury while in the quarterfinals.

From that moment on, though, Wimbledon has been the home of the Serbian, since he has emerged victorious in the last four editions: 2018, 2019, 2021 and 2022 (the 2020 edition was not played due to the covid pandemic).

Already champion on seven occasions on the British lawn, Djokovic will seek in 2023 to equal Roger Federer as the male tennis player with the most titles there (8). If he manages to lift the trophy on July 15, it would be five times in a row that he has won and would achieve his 24th Grand Slam, thus equaling the all-time record of Australian Margaret Court.

Over to you, Nole...
