Update:

Competitive golf remains in full swing around the globe. The DP World Tour season finale played out in the UAE in November, where Rory McIlroy claimed the Race to Dubai for the seventh time. Remarkably, the 2026 season for that tour is already underway in Australia.

In the United States, the PGA Tour officially wrapped up on November 23. However, few of the top players participated in the final seven FedEx Cup fall events. Golf fans will get a chance to see some of the biggest names back in action this week at the 2025 Hero World Challenge.

Tiger Woods hosts, but won’t compete

Hosted once again by Tiger Woods, the Hero World Challenge takes place at Albany Golf Course in the Bahamas from Thursday, December 4 to Sunday, December 7.

Woods revealed ahead of the tournament that he is “a ways away” from competitive golf after undergoing back surgery for the seventh time since 2014 this past October.

Scheffler in the spotlight

With Woods on the sidelines, Scottie Scheffler will be the main attraction and clear favorite. The world No. 1, who has six victories in 2025, has not played since the Ryder Cup but is expected to continue his dominant form.

A limited but star-studded field

The 20-player field also includes major champions JJ Spaun, Keegan Bradley, Justin Rose, Hideki Matsuyama, Wyndham Clark, Brian Harman and Jordan Spieth. Additionally, 2025 Ryder Cup stars Sam Burns, Harris English, Robert McIntyre and Sepp Straka will tee it up in the Bahamas.

The total prize purse this week is $5 million, with $1 million going to the winner.

Woods holds the record with five victories, although his last came in 2011 at Sherwood Country Club in California.
