His best finish was in 2022, where he ranked 9th overall, a significant accomplishment given the intense competition.

Lazar Dukic goes missing at the CrossFit Games 2024

Đukić was last seen on the live stream approximately 100 meters from the finish line. Witnesses reported that he appeared to be struggling during the swim portion of the event. Emergency personnel, including divers, were immediately dispatched to search the lake.

It was later confirmed by the CrossFit Games that an unnamed athlete had lost their life in the first event, although no name has been given until family have been notified and formal identification has taken place.

CrossFit Games official statement

In an official statement, the CrossFit Games said: “CrossFit Games is deeply saddened by the death of a CrossFit Games competitor during the swimming portion of Individual Event 1 at the 2024 CrossFit Games. We are fully cooperating with authorities and doing everything we can to support the family at this time. The remainder of today’s events have been suspended. The well-being of competitors is our first priority and we are heartbroken by this tragic event.
