Who will Gervonta Davis fight next after beating Frank Martin?

‘Tank’ proved he’s one of the best and most spectacular fighters in boxing after demolishing Martin last Saturday night.

‘Tank’ proved he’s one of the best and most spectacular fighters in boxing after demolishing Martin last Saturday night.

Gervonta Davis was expected to come out on top against Frank Martin and he didn’t let his fans down. Tank returned to the ring almost one year later to take on the undefeated Detroit native in a fight where some experts believed that Martin had a good shot at the upset, but the current WBA lightweight champion proved once again that he’s one of the biggest stars in the sport.

The three-division world champion successfully defended his belt after knocking out his opponent with a left hand in the eighth round.

The Ghost did well in the first rounds, using his speed and footwork to land some good punches, but as the fight progressed Davis started taking over. With the fight entering its second half and both men having exchanged quite a few power punches Davis’ pressure and shots saw Martin go to the ropes and that’s when Davis managed to land one of his bombs to close the show in style.

Davis looking for all-time greatness

While many believed the battle could go the distance, the former Floyd Mayweather protege looked better than ever and in red-hot form and Martin couldn’t make it to the final bell despite his good performance.

With Davis sending a warning message to the rest of the lightweight fighters with his impressive knockout, now the question is who will be his next rival.

Although one of the first names to come out was Ryan Garcia, Davis didn’t seem interested in facing him again.

However, his facial expression changed when Vasyl Lomachenko and Shakur Stevenson were mentioned as potential opponents.

“For sure, yeah, for sure. I’m willing to fight all of them”, Davis said during the post-fight press conference.

Asked for a prediction on a possible outcome if he was to fight both men, Davis didn’t bite his tongue:

“My prediction [on how a Loma fight would go]? A** whooping time! You know how it would go [if I fought Stevenson]. Everybody in this room knows how it would go. I guess it would be good for the sport if we fought”.

Although those are the two favorite candidates for Davis, the 29-year-old star would also be happy to take on the WBC super lightweight champion Devin Haney.
