Why did the Farmers Insurance Open start on Wednesday, January 24?

Yep, we were surprised too when we saw the PGA Tour event was starting on Wednesday instead of Thursday. What’s the reason behind the decision?

Born in Chicago, Joe played varsity football and baseball in Bowling Green, Ohio for BGHS and later played lacrosse at BGSU. A year abroad in Spain changed everything. As destiny would have it he ended up living in Zaragoza, running his own business, teaching Journalism at a private university then working as a SEO journalist for Diario AS.
Update:

Blame it on Taylor Swift. No, just joking. Travis Kelce’s pop star girlfriend has got enough grief lately for supporting the NFL. It’s not her fault, but it is because there are two important football games on Sunday.

The reason the Farmers Insurance Open was moved up a day

The truth is the pro golfers don’t want to compete with the NFL. As everyone knows by now, the Chiefs are playing against the Ravens in Baltimore Sunday at 3 p.m. in the AFC Championship game. Then the Lions will take on the 49ers in San Francisco at 6:30 p.m. in the NFC Conference final. That’s tough competition for the PGA at the start of the season, even if they are playing at Torrey Pines.
