You should always listen to your mom. That’s what Tiger Woods does. The legendary golfer revealed the reason why he always wears red on Sundays, something that fans of the golfer long since spotted.

What does red mean to you? No, not the Taylor Swift album. The colour represents anger, danger, warnings and strength, as well as heat.

But for Tiger, the colour means something different:

Red Woods’ ‘power colour’, says his mom

“I’ve worn red ever since my college days basically, or junior golf days — big events on the last day,” Woods said, according to Bunkered. “I just stuck with it out of superstition, and it worked. I just happened to choose a school that actually was red, and we wore red on our final day of events. So it worked out.”

I wear red on Sundays because my mom thinks that is my power color,” he added. “You know, you should always listen to your mom.”

Has Tiger ever won not wearing red?

He confirmed this theory once again when he appeared at a clothing line announcement: “Sunday red - it’s me. It started with mom [Kultida]. She thought being a Capricorn that my power color was red, so I wore red as a junior golfer and I won some tournaments.”

Almost all of Woods’ 82 PGA Tour wins have come in a bright red shirt. That total includes 15 majors, and five of those have been the Masters.

While Tiger normally wears red on Sundays where the win is close, he has not worn red in three of his wins. However, we can close our eyes and justify that the superstition still works, as one came in 1996, before he was world famous. The other two wins were in 2000.
