Will the Stevenson vs Davis fight happen? What did Shakur say?

The two American boxing stars could meet inside the ring at the end of 2024 with Lomachenko taking a break from the sport. What did Shakur say?

After Davis’ brilliant victory over Frank Martin in June, a flurry of names came out as possible opponents for Tank. One of them was Vasiliy Lomachenko, regarded as one of the most talented fighters of his generation.

Asked about a potential clash with the Ukrainian, Davis admitted he would love to face the two-time Olympic gold medalist and while it seemed both men would collide at the end of the year, negotiations didn’t translate into any agreements after ‘Loma’ decided to take a break from boxing.

Considering that scenario, and the fact that Devin Haney doesn’t seem very interested in taking on Davis soon, Shakur Stevenson was the immediate fighter seen as a possible rival for the Baltimore native.

What did Stevenson say about a potential fight with Davis?

It was recently reported that the mega-fight between the two undefeated fighters was a done deal, by a popular YouTube channel, reporting that a unification match between him and Davis would take place on November 23.

Shakur, 27, quickly shot down that information considering it “fake”. However, the Newark-bred boxer didn’t clarify if he’s negotiating with Gervonta to make the fight happen.

“This is fake!!” said Stevenson on X, reacting to a social media report.

The former Top Rank fighter last defeated Artem Harutyunyan via unanimous decision in July and is looking for a challenging opponent.

If the Davis fight doesn’t happen, quite a few names would be interested in taking on the all-around fighter. One of them is William Zepeda, an undefeated Mexican fighter who could put Stevenson into trouble and would likely attract the fans’ attention. Negotiations between both men seem to be close to being a done deal.
