As news came out that Ryan “King Ry” Garcia had missed the weight by 3.2 pounds, the boxing world was thrown into a spin. The bad news for Ryan Garcia and his fans is that the WBC belt is no longer on the table in this fight. The good news? There is still a fight on.

With such a small amount of extra weight, fighters would normally go for a run, sweat, use the toilet, whatever and re-weigh themselves. Three pounds can be cut fairly easily for a fighter who is not completely wasted at the weight. And Garcia looks to be in good form.

Strangely, Garcia decided to simply shrug his shoulders. Reports are that he didn’t even try to cut the extra weight, opting instead to immediately ask to cut a catchweight deal.

Reports are that he now has that deal signed and a fight is going to happen.

Garcia will have to forfeit over $600,000 of his fight purse to Haney, in addition to the $1.5 million that the two made as a side bet, but will not have to step on the scale Saturday again. Garcia is also out of the running for Haney’s WBC Super Lightweight belt. Should Haney lose the fight, the title will become vacant.
