Will there ever be a fight between the Paul brothers? This is Jake’s verdict on facing Logan

In an interview given ahead of his boxing bout with Julio César Chávez Jr., Jake Paul was asked about a potential fight with Logan.

Update:

YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul says he’s unlikely to fight his brother Logan, despite the potentially huge financial rewards of such a bout.

“They’ve always said ‘no’”

Speaking as he prepares for his upcoming fight against Julio César Chávez Jr., Jake said a matchup with Logan has been vetoed by the siblings’ parents.

“They’ve always said ‘no’,” Jake told an interview with the Iced Coffee Hour podcast. “They’ve always said, ‘If you do it, we’re going to disown you,’ type thing.”

Jake’s clash with Chávez Jr. this weekend will be the 13th fight of his five-year professional boxing career, as the 28-year-old chases a shot at a world-title bout.

Meanwhile, Logan is also an internet star who has ventured into combat sports.

He has established himself as a WWE wrestler in recent years, and has pulled on the boxing gloves for professional bouts in 2019 and 2023. Notably, the 30-year-old also faced multiple former world champion Floyd Mayweather in an exhibition fight in 2021.

“We’d probably both make 70 to 100 million”

“If Logan and I fought, we’d probably both make like 70 to 100 million [dollars],” Jake told the Iced Coffee Hour. “But there’s plenty of other ways to make big moments and do big things than fighting my brother.”

He added: “The only reason why I think we maybe would [fight each other] is just because we do everything that no-one else does. No other boxing brothers in history have fought. The Klitschkos, the Charlos… I mean the list goes on and on.”

And Jake says it wouldn’t be a close fight with Logan - unless they switched to mixed martial arts. “He would last like two rounds with me in boxing, maybe three,” he said. “But in MMA, I think he would actually have the advantage because he’s really good at wrestling.”

How much money will Jake Paul get for Chávez Jr. fight?

After victory over 58-year-old boxing great Mike Tyson in November, Jake’s bout with Chávez Jr. pits him against a former WBC middleweight title holder, albeit the 39-year-old Mexican has only fought once since 2021.

“It’s not necessarily the biggest fight ever, but it’s a challenging fight,” Jake told the Iced Coffee Hour. “He’s a former world champion.

“And then the WBA and the WBC, which are sanctioning bodies, are planning to rank me, depending on how I do in the fight. And based off of that ranking, I’ll then be able to go fight for a world championship.”

Jake, who is reportedly in line to earn around $20 million from this weekend’s fight - 50% less than he pocketed for facing Tyson - is the bookmakers’ favorite, with moneyline odds of -670, per Oddschecker.

Since his first professional bout, against fellow YouTuber AnEsonGib in January 2020, Jake has accumulated an 11-1 record, with seven wins by knockout. Chávez Jr., whose maiden pro fight was in September 2003, is currently 54-6-1, having triumphed by knockout on 34 occasions.
