This Saturday, Saúl Álvarez returns to the ring to face American Terence Crawford at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada. Just days before the fight, Cuban fighter William Scull shared his view on the bout.

Scull prediction for Canelo-Crawford

In an interview with FightHub TV, the Caribbean boxer explained that if Crawford had taken a warm-up fight at 168 pounds, he would have had a better chance of beating Canelo.

“Canelo is dropping a couple of pounds and Crawford is moving up in weight to fight him. Maybe if Crawford had already fought at 168, he’d have gained more experience at that weight. But stepping straight into it could be a problem. Canelo will knock him out in the 12th round. I’d be surprised if Crawford won this fight. There’s a disadvantage with the weight classes. Without it, it would be a 50-50 fight,” Scull said.

He added: “This fight at this weight definitely benefits Canelo. I’d say there’s a 75 percent chance Canelo wins. Crawford, even though he looks stronger, is moving up too much. He has a great attacking ability, which helps against Canelo. The key here is not to stay in the center of the ring, because that’s where Canelo will definitely have the advantage and be the stronger man.”

Experts have been clear that Terence Crawford goes into the fight at a disadvantage due to the weight – and that’s why many believe the American has slim chances of beating Canelo Álvarez.
