Mike Tyson offers his prediction ahead of the Canelo-Crawford fight

The undisputed 168-pound title is on the line this weekend. Mexican Saúl ‘Canelo’ Álvarez will face Nebraska born Terence Crawford for all the super middleweight belts, and a boxing legend has picked his favorite as to how will win out at Allegiant Stadium on Saturday night

Mike Tyson, former heavyweight champion from the 1990s, appeared on Shaquille O’Neal’s ‘Big Podcast’ and stated that he would like to see Crawford win, but he doesn’t think it’s possible. Mainly because Canelo has a strong punch and is very intelligent.

“It’s complicated. I want Crawford to win, but it doesn’t look like that’s going to happen,” Tyson said. “I’d like it to happen, but this guy (Canelo) has a strong punch, he’s a smart fighter. I just want to get in there and see what happens.”

Despite everything, Tyson is hoping for an upset, citing the victory of Henry Armstrong, a 124-pound champion who moved up several weight classes to become the reigning champion at 146 pounds.

“There have been upsets like this before. Henry Armstrong moved up to 124 pounds and beat the 146-pound champion,” Tyson explained. “So you never know. Anything can happen in the ring.”

Crawford gains weight to fight Canelo

Terence Crawford’s highest weight class to date is 154 pounds, or super welterweight, which he was a year ago, defeating Israil Madrimov. However, his standard weight class, where he became undisputed champion, was welterweight, after knocking out Errol Spence Jr. in 2023.

That means ‘Bud’ gained 21 pounds to face Canelo Álvarez, or roughly 10 kilograms.
