Rovanperä and Lappi set identical stage times in Mexico shakedown
Ahead of Rally Mexico in Guanajuato, Finnish rivals Esapekka Lappi and Kalle Rovanperä set identical times of 3:44.4.
Rally Mexico drivers had the chance to maximize on their setups during the 5.52-kilometer Llano Grande shakedown stage before the three days in the Sierra de Lobos and Sierra de Guanajuato mountains.
Lappi and Rovanperä post identical times
Finnish rivals Esapekka Lappi and defending champion Kalle Rovanperä faced each other on the gravel for the first time this season. Rovanperä drove a Toyota GR Yaris and Lappi took his Hyundai i20 N. They ended up posting the exact same time, sharing the fastest time of three minutes, 44.4 seconds.
Also driving a Yaris, six-time rally winner Sébastien Ogier posted a time of three minutes, 44.7 seconds. Dani Sordo nearly topped him, leading after two runs, but ended up just a tenth below Ogier to place fourth.
