2022 was an outstanding year for Checo Pérez. The driver from Guadalajara, Jalisco was a key player for Red Bull as they won the constructors’ championship. On an individual level, he also had great moments such as his first pole position, his victory in Monaco, and his second podium in Mexico. He is not resting on his laurels and will go for more in 2023.

Pérez is facing his thirteenth season in Formula 1, which places him as one of the most experienced drivers on the 2023 grid. Little by little he has expanded his collection of Grand Prix trophies, and since he arrived at Red Bull he has become a frequent visitor to the podium.

Increasing his victories

Throughout his career, Sergio has had four wins. The Mexican driver conquered the tracks of Sakhir, Azerbaijan, Monaco and Singapore. As for podium finishes, Pérez has 26, with the two at the Mexican Grand Prix being the most special in his career as he pleased the hometown crowd.

The great defender

The 33-year-old also has a pole position in his resumé, which he achieved in Saudi Arabia, one of the most difficult circuits on the calendar. In terms of points, Pérez has been characterized as a constant driver in terms of generating them, that so far he has registered 1,201.

With these numbers plus his great duels on the track, Perez is already considered the best driver that Mexico has had in its history, beating names such as the Rodríguez brothers, Adrián Fernández, among others.
