A year without Casemiro at Real Madrid
The Brazilian left Real Madrid after a hugely successful stint at the club to join Manchester United a year ago.
A year ago today, Casemiro (31) joined Manchester United from Real Madrid. The Brazilian left Chamartín for €72million plus €13million in variables. He won 18 titles at the Santiago Bernabéu and his departure marked the end of an era in the Los Blancos midfield.
Casemiro’s success at Real Madrid
Casemiro ended his career at Real Madrid with a record worthy of admiring: five Champions League titles, three La Liga titles, one Copa del Rey, three Club World Cups, three Spanish Super Cups and three European Super Cups. The last title won by the Brazilian was a few days before his departure. The midfielder was proclaimed Super Cup champion, excelling in the final against Eintracht, where he was MVP of the final after an assist to David Alaba and a shot that came off the crossbar.
Casemiro ended his time at Real Madrid by playing just seven minutes against Almería, in what would be the first league game of last season, but the end of the Brazilian’s story with Madrid.
Casemiro farewell
Madrid organized a farewell to the legend, a homage to a player who defended the colors of Real Madrid on 336 occasions, scoring 31 goals and winning 18 titles. He was a key player in one of the most important and successful periods in the history of the club. He won five Champions League titles and was a starter in the last four, forming an excellent midfield trio with Toni Kroos and Luka Modric.
