Alexis Vega set to return for second leg against Atlas

The Chivas Guadalajara ace is set to play on Sunday at Jalisco stadium for the second leg of the quarter-finals of the 2022 Clausura tournament.

Update:
Alexis Vega set to return for second leg against Atlas
Edgar Quintana

Chivas lost 2-1 against Atlas at Akron stadium on Thursday for the first leg of the quarter-final fixture and Alexis Vega had to be replaced due to an injury. After undergoing a medical examination it was confirmed that the Mexico international will be ready to play on Sunday for the second leg at Estadio Jalisco.

Injury report

Vega had to come out in the 66th minute and he was replaced by Ángel Saldivar. After the game Chivas’ head coach Ricardo Cadena couldn’t determine how serious the injury was because Alexis Vega was with the medical staff. The good news is that Chivas’ No.10 will be ready and most likely start on Sunday in the most important game of the campaign.

Another positive news for Chivas is that Isaaz Brizuela will also be available to play Atlas on Sunday night. The Mexico international practiced with the rest of the team this week and he has reached full fitness.

What does Chivas need to advance?

Now the Guadalajara-based team will start their best players to play Atlas and they need to win by a two goal difference to advance to the semifinals of the tournament. This will be a different task for Chivas because the Rojinegros have only lost once this campaign by a two goal difference - they have one of the best defenses in Liga MX.
