Alphonso Davies transfer update: Real Madrid target negotiates with Bayern over renewal

The Canadian full-back had previously been giving Bayern the cold shoulder, although it looks like things have changed.

The rumours gave the impression over the past weeks and months that Canadian left-back, Alphonso Davies, was set to shun a contract extension from Bayern Munich in favour of a move to Real Madrid, where confidence was high. However, now things may have changed.

Alphonso Davies is already set to become one of next summer’s hot topics. The Canadian, currently at Bayern Munich, is a huge object of desire for Real Madrid, a club that intend to take advantage of the state of his contract - which ends in 2025 - to sign him at a good price.

Bayern reportedly restart renewal talks

But things are not so simple: the Bundesliga champions, as has become customary over the last decades, will not make things easy for the Spanish club and have already pushed the button to renew the winger. They know that the danger of losing Davies is real.

German newspaper Sport Bild, has published a damning transfer update for Real Madrid, saying that Bayern have now resumed talks with the player’s entourage after negotiations stalled last year. According to the report, Nedal Huoseh, agent of the lightning-fast wide man, met last week with sporting director Christopher Freund, who conveyed the club’s firm desire to extend, and therefore improve the terms of, his client’s contract.

What did Davies’ agent say about Real Madrid?

Exactly how the situation evolves will depend on what Davies wants and right now everything suggests that he is not willing to miss the train that will take him to the Santiago Bernabeu. It is worth recalling Huoseh’s words in an interview with Fabrizio Romano, an appearance that did not go down too well at the Allianz Arena.

“I don’t want to let Bayern down”, he said, “there are five big clubs in the world and Bayern is one of them. But Madrid is a big name, a big brand, with 14 Champions League titles,” the representative went on to say. What is certain is that we are in for a very busy summer.
