The relationship between the player, who is being targetted by Real Madrid and the German champions is not going through its best moment, a fact that will facilitate his departure next summer.

Signing Alphonso Davies is becoming more and more important for Real Madrid with each day that passes. As AS has reported on a number of occasions, the Canadian is the chief target to reinforce the left-back position next season and the club has already established initial contact with the 23-year-old’s agent. In contrast to what is currently happening in Munich, where the full-back’s representative has not had contact with management of the six-time European champions for quite some time. As things stand, no progress has been made regarding the renewal of his contract, which is due to expire in June 2025 - and the possibility of that happening seems further away than ever...

The situation has been reported in the national press with German newspaper Bild suggesting that in the back offices of the Allianz Arena, Bayern bigwigs are not too happy with Nedal Huoseh’s behavior. The agent and close friend of the Davies family was the one who encouraged rumors about his client’s possible departure last summer. In an interview with the Canadian website The Sports Network he went as far as saying: “There are a number of clubs that are after Davies...”

In a chat with transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano in June, he added: “We are taking our time to see how things develop. Right now, we haven’t made any final decisions on anything. Real Madrid is a big club. I have always been a fan of the club - as a [football] fan, in general. When you have an athlete, like Alphonso, that you manage - not to take anything away from Bayern Munich, they are a big club, there are five big ones on the globe and Bayern definitely is one of those clubs, look bad. There are five big clubs in the world and Bayern is one of them. But Real Madrid is a big name, a big brand, 14 Champions Leagues… I mean, when you hear the rumors that they’re interested in a player you manage, it makes you proud”.

It is clear that both of those statements did not sit too well in the Bavarian capital, where the relationship with Huoseh has cooled considerably. Hasan Salihamidzic, former Bayern sports director and the main architect of his signing in 2019, had already reached an agreement with Davies to sign his renewal, but the Bosnian ended up being dismissed and the recent instability within Bayern’s board, where CEO Oliver Kahn also had to leave, made Davies decide to wait and not rush into matters concerning his future.

As German media explain, the Canada international only plans to negotiate if Bayern is willing to make him one of the club’s highest-paid players. Davies’ salary is around 7 million euros after tax per season - several players in the squad earn almost double that. However, the Bundesliga champions haven’t ruled out selling him next summer and would ask for a fee of around 50 million - a figure that Real Madrid would try to lower, considering that the defender can leave for free in 2025 and that his wishes seem to be clear.
