The Apertura 2023 tournament kicks off this weekend but that hasn’t deterred many Liga MX clubs from organizing friendlies later on in the year. As usual, many of them will be played in the United States. Once again, América will face Guadalajara in yet another edition of the Superclásico - albeit a friendly one.

Through their official platforms, the two most popular teams in the country announced that they will face each other on Sunday 15 October at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California. For the moment, a kick-off time has not been confirmed, but it is expected that in the next few days all of the details of the Clásico Nacional will emerge.

Even though this meeting is just a friendly, the team from Coapa will doubtless be looking for revenge for their elimination by Guadalajara in the 2023 Clausura semi-final at the Azteca. It is worth noting that the Rose Bowl is one of the largest stadiums in the United States, as it has a capacity for 90,000 fans, and was also one of the host stadiums at the 1994 World Cup.

América will make their Apertura 2023 debut against Juárez on 30 June at the Coloso de Santa Úrsula. As for Deportivo Guadalajara, their first game comes a few days later - they are in action on 3 July when they visit León - a tough opener for the rojiblancos.
