América poised to seal signing of former Premier League flair player
As América bids to shake off a run of poor form, Las Águilas are to snap up a player whose arrival is causing excitement among the fans.
Club América’s newest signing, Allan Saint-Maximin, has arrived in Mexico City to complete his move to the storied Liga MX team. His flight touched down around 8:30 p.m. local time non Friday, with a sizable crowd of enthusiastic fans awaited him at the international terminal.
Waving flags, wearing scarves and chanting with excitement, América supporters gave Saint-Maximin a warm and passionate welcome. Though he was escorted by a security detail throughout his arrival, the Mexico City International Airport was already glowing in América’s signature yellow.
Now that Saint-Maximin is in town, he’ll report to the club’s facilities in Coapa to undergo medical evaluations before officially signing his contract with the most decorated team in Mexican soccer history.

América out to bounce back after tough stretch
The arrival of Saint-Maximin comes at a crucial time for América, who have struggled since losing the Clausura 2025 final to Toluca. The club had been chasing a historic fourth consecutive title, but their run was cut short by the Diablos Rojos - marking the beginning of a difficult period for the capital side.
First came defeat in the Campeón de Campeones match, again to Toluca. Then, América had a chance to represent Mexico in the Club World Cup as a replacement for León, but fell to LAFC in the play-in round. To make matters worse, Las Águilas were eliminated in the league phase of the Leagues Cup, adding another disappointment to a string of recent setbacks.
