Ancelotti, Guardiola and Scaloni named FIFA Men’s Coach finalists

FIFA has revealed the three finalists for best Men’s coach at The Best Awards. The Real Madrid coach is up against World Cup winner Scaloni.

Lionel Scaloni, Carlo Ancelotti and Pep Guardiola are the three finalists for the FIFA The Best Award in the Men’s Best Coach category. FIFA has made public the final list that will compete for the award on Monday 27 February in Paris. Yesterday, it announced that Courtois, Dibu Martínez and Bono will compete for the award for the Best Goalkeeper award. And on Friday, they will announce the three finalists for the shortlist of Best Men’s Player and Best Women’s Player awards.

Unlike this year’s Ballon d’Or, that encompasses everything that happened in football between August 2022 and July 2023, The Best awards cover the achievement during football events between 8 August 2021 and 18 December 2022.

Carlo Ancelotti added his fourth Champions League title with Real Madrid, becoming the only coach to have lifted four European crowns. Lionel Scaloni guided Argentina to victory at the Qatar World Cup - the Albicelestes’ third World Cup triumph. Pep Guardiola meanwhile, won the 2021/22 Premier League with Manchester City took his team to the Champions League semi-finals. Last year’s winner was ex-Chelsea boss Thomas Tüchel.

In the Women’s category, the three final candidates are: Sonia Bompastor (Olympique Lyon); Pia Sundhage (Brazil national team) and Sarina Wiegman (England national team).
