Apertura 2022 playoffs: third-highest-scoring in short-tournament era
There were a total of 61 goals in the Apertura 2022 playoffs, with championship winners Pachuca the leading scorers in the postseason.
The Liga MX Apertura 2022 tournament concluded with Pachuca winning the title after one of the highest-scoring playoff phases in history. Sixty-one goals were scored in the postseason - an average of 3.4 per game - with Pachuca and Club América contributing the most.

According to figures released by the Liga MX, the Apertura 2022 playoffs witnessed the third-highest number of goals since the short-tournament format was introduced in Mexico’s elite division in 1996. Only the Invierno 96 and Verano 2001 championships, which were both won by Santos Laguna, saw more goals.
Pachuca lead the way collectively and individually
Pachuca were the most prolific team in the Apertura 2022 postseason, Los Tuzos netting a total of 16 times in six games. Their 5-1 win over Toluca in the first leg of the final was their most productive match. Pachuca also boast the playoffs’ top-scoring player, Nicolás Ibáñez, who hit five goals.
América, who were the second-highest scorers, managed 13 goals in four games, with just under half of their haul coming in a 6-1 victory over Puebla in the first leg of the quarter-finals. Las Águilas’ leading marksman in the final phase was Henry Martín, who scored four goals.
