The Argentina national team has revealed a new jersey that Lionel Messi and Co will wear at the 2024 Copa América in the United States this summer. The shirt is inspired by La Albiceleste’s 2022 World Cup victory, in which the Inter Miami star played a prominent role, scoring seven goals in Qatar.

When will Argentina wear their new jersey for the first time?

Nobody will be surprised to learn the jersey has sky blue and white vertical stripes, with its new gold trimmings a reminder of their dramatic victory over France in the final in Lusail in December 2022.

Nuestros campeones, nuestra camiseta (”Our champions, our shirt”) is the tagline Adidas has used to promote the shirt, which will be worn for the first time in the friendly match against El Salvador in Philadelphia on Friday 22 March.

Argentina will also wear it in further warm-up games against Costa Rica (Los Angeles, Tuesday 26 March) and Guatemala (Washington D.C., 13 June) before the Copa América gets underway.

Lionel Scaloni’s team had into the summer tournament as favourites to win a third successive international title having also won the 2021 Copa América in additional to the last World Cup. Three years ago, Ángel Di María scored the only goal in the final as Argentina memorably defeated Brazil at the Maracanã in Rio de Janeiro.

Who will Argentina play in the 2024 Copa América? Dates, venues...

In the upcoming edition, La Albiceleste will start the group stage by playing either Trinidad and Tobago or Canada (who will play off for a place in the tournament) in Atlanta on 20 June, then face Chile in New Jersey on 25 June and Peru in Miami Gardens on 29 June.
