At Selhurst Park, Bruno Fernandes’ first-half opener looked set to earn the Red Devils a sixth triumph on the spin, but Erik ten Hag’s men were denied by a fine late leveller, Michael Olise thumping a free-kick in off the bar in stoppage time.
Having also played one game more than Arsenal, United trail the North Londoners by eight points.

Match preview: Arsenal
Arsenal’s only Premier League loss this season came in September’s reverse fixture at Old Trafford, where Marcus Rashford’s second-half double gave Manchester United a 3-1 victory.
That defeat aside, the Gunners’ only dropped points this term have been draws with Southampton and Newcastle, allowing them to establish a commanding lead at the top of the table.
Indeed, Arsenal’s 2-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur in Sunday’s derby saw them go eight points clear. Four days later, Manchester City’s 4-2 victory over Spurs reduced the gap to five, but Mikel Arteta’s men have a game in hand on the second-placed defending champions.
The Arsenal XI
Eddie Nketiah will be the focal point in attack for Arsenal this afternoon.

The video assistant referee (VAR) will be Michael Salisbury, and the assistant VAR will be Daniel Robathan.
Arsenal top of the league
A win for Arsenal today would extend the gap between themselves and United to eleven points.
The Gunners have won 15 of their 18 league games in 2022-23.
Manchester United are the only team to beat Arsenal so far this season.
They defeated Mikel Arteta’s side 3-1 at Old Trafford thanks to a Marcus Rashford brace and a debut goal from winger Antony.
No Casemiro at the Emirates
Brazilian midfielder Fred is expected to deputise for his compatriot Casemiro as the in-form No 6 picked up another yellow against Palace in midweek and will serve a suspension.
Erik ten Hag was notably frustrated by Casemiro’s booking and will have to do without the experienced midfielder against Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard, who will be looking to pull the strings for the Gunners.
United go back to London
After Wednesday's 1-1 draw against Crystal Palace in South London, Manchester United travel this time to North London to face the Gunners.

After a strong first-half showing, Erik ten Hag’s side struggled to make it 2-0 and Patrick Vieira’s team grew into the game before Michael Olise’s stunning free-kick came off the bar and into the net to snatch a late draw for the Londoners.
