Chelsea appear set to clinch a loan move for Atlético Madrid forward João Félix, reports David Ornstein of The Athletic.
The Premier League side have reached a verbal agreement for the Portugal international and are expected to pay in the region of €11 million for the loan move.
Manchester United and Arsenal were also interested in securing the services of the 23-year-old, who now looks set to join Chelsea this month instead.
The Athletic previously reported that the LaLiga outfit wanted €21 million for the six-month transfer.
Poor relationship with Simeone
Félix’s relationship with Atlético head coach Diego Simeone is not a good one and his form has been patchy. So far this season, he has netted five times and registered three assists in 20 appearances.
In a performance to forget, he played 73 minutes for Atlétic in their 1-0 home defeat to Barcelona on Sunday night.
Under their new owners, Chelsea have been active in the transfer windows and have already agreed a deal to sign forward Christopher Nkunku from RB Leipzig.
Head coach Graham Potter is under pressure at Stamford Bridge after his side was dumped out of the FA Cup on Sunday and the Blues currently sit in 10th place in the Premier League.
