Real Madrid dropped points against Villarreal on Saturdayso now Barcelona have the chance to go three points clear at the top of the table.
Here you can read how all the action unfolded as former Barcelona manager Quique Setién did his old side a favour in Castellón.
Barça will be without Jordi Alba and Robert Lewandowski in Madrid, with both players serving suspensions.
Alba was sent off in last weekend’s draw with Espanyol, while Lewandowski was dismissed against Osasuna in early November - and now finally begins his three-game ban.
Barça had managed to have the Pole’s punishment put on hold after lodging an appeal against its length, allowing him to play in the Catalan derby. However, Spain’s Administrative Court for Sport (TAD) has since confirmed the striker’s suspension.
Sergio Reguilón and Mario Hermoso are the only names that Simeone won’t be able to squeeze onto his team sheet on Sunday, but apart from the pair of defenders he has a full squad available.
Reinildo should come in to replace the injured Reguilón, while Stefan Savic trained during the week, meaning his inclusion is also likely in the back line.
Barcelona in town
It's absolutely freezing in Madrid as Barcelona prepare to face Diego Simeone's side. It's never easy travelling to take on Atlético but especially not in these conditions.
