Atlético San Luis sign goalkeeper David Ochoa
The goalkeeper was born in California to Mexican parents. He is being considered material for Mexico’s national team
Atlético de San Luis announced on Tuesday that they have signed Mexican-American goalkeeper David Ochoa as the first reinforcement for the Clausura 2023 tournament.
Through its official social media account, the San Luis-based club confirmed the new arrival - rumors about Ochoa have been doing the rounds since last week with some observers taking his incorporation as Marcelo Barovero’s substitute as given.

David comes to San Luis after spending last season in MLS with DC United. The team finished in last place in the Eastern Conference.

Ochoa, who has also spent time at the Real Monarchs and Real Salt Lake, was born in California, but his parents are Mexican. His ancestry allowed him to request, in 2021, a one-time switch to be eligible for Mexico’s national team after having participated for the United States at youth level in some tournaments.

Atlético San Luis will be in charge of getting the Clausura 2023 underway on Friday 6 January when they are guests of Necaxa at Victoria stadium, with kick-off at 7:00 p.m. local time.
