Barcelona interested in getting Aubameyang back

The Catalan giants want to call upon the Chelsea player’s services again and a loan seems to be the favorite option to take him back to Camp Nou.

Update:
The Catalan giants want to call upon the Chelsea player’s services again and a loan seems to be the favorite option to take him back to Camp Nou.

Barcelona are already working on next season’s squad, as the club wants to add some new faces to make a competitive group that can fight for all the titles.

However, and differently to last summer, the Catalan giants will need to be quite creative to find a convenient balance between their badly damaged economy and the task of signing good players for a low quantity of money.

The LaLiga leaders, in the spotlight due to the Negreira case, want to add at least four new players: a midfielder, a right wing-back, a centre-back, and a forward.

However, they could be more restricted than expected depending on the players they can get rid of at the end of this term and on what they can find on the market.

What seems sure is that Xavi’s priorities are finding a quality second forward that can replace Robert Lewandowski at any given moment and a right wing-back.

Aubameyang, on loan

In an ideal situation, Barcelona’s first choice would be Brazilian wonderboy Vítor Roque, but Club Athletico Paranaense have set an asking price of €50m, which is an amount they are not ready to pay.

Taking Roque out of the equation, Aubameyang seems to be one of the most attractive options for Xavi, as the Gabon forward already played under his guidance and became one of the best players on the team when he was given the chance of playing.

Barcelona sold Aubameyang to Chelsea last September as the club was looking for some cash and had quite a few players in the attack, but Ferran Torres hasn’t lived up to the expectations and Ansu Fati hasn’t performed as he used to before tearing the meniscus in his left knee during the 2020-21 season.

The club is now interested in getting him back and Chelsea seem to be willing to negotiate a loan transfer, in which the Catalans would pay the player’s salary.

But as previously mentioned, Barcelona’s main headaches are expected to be in the selling department, as it was recently reported that the club intends to put up to six players on the market to get some incoming money and be able to sign.
