Barcelona-Juventus called off after virus hits the Barça squad
The Catalan club confirmed that the squad has been hit by viral gastroenteritis with many players ruled out as a consequence.
FC Barcelona are in the United States with the Catalan side initially scheduled to play four games as part of the LaLiga champions pre-season activity.
The first of the four games was set to be played tonight with Serie A giants Juventus set to provide the opposition with the game set to take place at Levi’s Stadium in San Francisco, home to the NFL side the 49ers.
The game however has been suspended due to a viral gastroenteritis bug impacting on many Barcelona players. This club announced the news with a brief communique: ‘Barcelona hereby informs that the game against Juventus FC, scheduled for today, July 22 at 7:30 PM at Levi’s Stadium, as part of the Soccer Champions Tour, has been canceled. A significant part of the blaugrana squad has a viral gastroenteritis’.
Xavi’s men are also set to face Arsenal, Real Madrid and AC Milan as part of the tour.
