“Barcelona signed me to annoy Real Madrid”
A new soccer documentary is proving to be rather revealing, with talk about career and relationships, including with players like Kylian Mbappé.
Movistar Plus will premiere the documentary series “No tenéis ni p*** idea”* (”You have no f****** idea”) on September 30, offering an in-depth look at the personal and professional life of Luis Enrique during his final season at Paris Saint-Germain.
The series, a co-production between ZOOMSPORT FILMS and TBS, will consist of three episodes, featuring exclusive footage of the former Spain coach in his daily life. Viewers will see him as a husband, father, friend, and coach to some of the biggest international football stars, providing a unique insight into his world.
Although the series primarily focuses on Luis Enrique’s final season, it also offers glimpses into his overall career. For example, reflecting on his past as a player at Real Madrid and his controversial move to Barcelona, the Asturian coach quips that he was signed by the Catalans “to annoy Madrid.” He also jokes about changing the breakfasts during team camps at Roma when he noticed cappuccinos and cornettos were served:
“When it comes to the club, you have to be professional in everything. At home, you can eat four cornettos however you like, I don’t care,” Luis Enrique says. Throughout the series, he’s shown to be deeply committed to living a healthy lifestyle, even pausing interviews to do aerobic exercises.
Mbappé: “He never defends but...”
Kylian Mbappé, whom he coached in his final season at PSG, there are various comments made.
“If winning was just about having the best player in the world, PSG would have eight Champions Leagues,” he says in the first episode, right after arriving in Paris. Interestingly, as Mbappé's contractual situation with the club became more complicated, the documentary shows how the coach gradually reduced the player’s importance in his plans, stating: “He’s no longer the foundation of the project. I’ll make changes when I need to.”
In a conversation with his staff, Luis Enrique also acknowledges Mbappé's weaknesses, saying: “Mbappé never defends, it’s difficult for him. But he scores 25 goals and provides 15 assists, so we have to adapt the system to his strengths.” The series reveals how the coach corrected specific aspects of Mbappé's game before PSG’s second-leg quarterfinal match against Barcelona, which ultimately helped the team reach the semifinals.
